New Visions for Food
Ever wanted to know what’s for dinner, like, next year? We would love to!
Wevolve did a holistic inquiry into how food will be grown, produced, distributed, sold, prepared, served and consumed in future. Complex? Yes. Interesting? Absolutely! Namely, food is often an area where the new cultural concepts and ideas first grow into early adulthood and eventually marry with the teenage technological enablers. In other words, your plate – given it’s filled with food with a vision – gives you easily a tasty sneak peek to future.
We spoke at the Food Conference in Helsinki on Jan 2012 about New Visions for Food. We wanted to look the whole food system as the potential platform for innovation. To paint the broad picture, we first looked at the macro trends to understand the future directions for food and to understand the current major opportunity areas for innovation. Additionally, we examined few interesting socio-cultural trends that are gaining relevance and allow us to understand the possibilities for change already today.
